Diversity of Use of Copper based Conductors

Whenever a discussion begins on conductors, it invariably moves on to listing out the benefits of different kinds of conductors in use. One such material has been in use as a conductor for long and continues to be popular with no other conductor offering the versatility it brings. This happens to be the ubiquitous copper wire.



The copper wire continues to play a significant role as a conductor. The reason behind the success of copper as a conductor is not just about its high conductance. Another interesting property that plays an important role in relation to the conductors is that this conductor can be combined with a number of other elements to build a combination of materials that can be used as a conductor and suits the conditions required in the different domains. This may relate to specific temperature or pressure conditions that are required to be maintained and managed for different processes.



Copper foil happens to be an instance of copper being used in a form different from the bare copper wire that is used generally. Other form in which this conductor happens to be in use is the copper flat wire.



Copper has been in use as a conductor for long. Another material that is being used often happens to be aluminium. These wires are cheaper than copper but meet the requirements as per the setup. This may be useful under certain conditions but in general conductors are required to function at room temperatures. Thus the properties so exhibited should be experienced at the room temperature. Only then can a material be chosen for a specific domain. In addition, it should be economical for use.



Conductors are required everywhere because almost every machine requires electrical energy for it to function. Hardly any process is carried out manually these days. Therefore, conductors that can withstand different kinds of conditions are required. Copper tends to work well with other materials wherein it retains its conductance while gaining from the better properties of other materials. Therefore, more work is being carried out in the field.
